Day 79: How To Calculate Your BMR

June 18th, 2010 | Posted in Health, Low Calorie, Vlog, losing weight, video, weight loss | Comments Off
Welcome back!

I recently decided to use my BMR and calorie counting to get my weight loss efforts off of the plateau that I’ve been on since last thanksgiving when I started trying to do something about my weight.

The BMR is your Basal Metabolic Rate. That is the number of calories that you need to maintain your current weight (this does not take into account any exercise or activity you do). A big part of losing weight is to keep your daily calorie intake below this number. A 500 calorie deficit should give you a one pound per week loss as long as you maintain that deficit.

Exercise is still a very important part of losing weight but knowing and using your BMR is going to help a lot.
