NY State Assemblyman Wants To Ban Salt In Restaurant Cooking

March 13th, 2010 | Posted in Food Info, From The Cook, Spices, video, Vlog | Comments Off

Felix Ortiz (D-Brooklyn) has introduced a bill that would ban all use of salt in restaurant cooking. It provides for a $1,000 fine for each use of salt by restaurant staff before, during, or after cooking. Customers will retain the right to use salt if they choose.

What this idiot has apparently NOT considered is that salt is more than just a seasoning. It is actually important in cooking. Not only does it enhance and bring out the flavor in many things, it’s use is essential in the chemistry of baking.

At the very least he needs to be beaten over the head with an industrial size clue-stick.
