For a long time I’ve been wanting to make a pizza that included tuna in the list of toppings. Once in a while I’d tell somebody about this idea and almost without exception everybody seemed to be genuinely grossed out by the idea of putting tuna on a pizza and they generally considered me to be some kind of nut even for thinking of doing it.

I’ve never heard of any pizza shop that offered tuna as a topping nor have I ever heard of any individual using tuna in pizza. I honestly can’t imagine why. I mean, people put anchovies on pizza and THEY aren’t even FOOD! They’re BAIT! Nasty smelling bait at that and they smell worse when they’re cooked! If people will eat pizza with nasty smelling anchovies on it, then tuna supreme ought to be a serious hit. Perhaps even the start of a new trend in seafood pizza!

Hmm.. maybe I should add “Home of the Tuna Supreme Pizza” somewhere near the top of the blog ‘eh?

Well, after years of threatening to, I’ve finally made the tuna supreme pizza. In my opinion it is without doubt or reservation the single best supreme pie I’ve ever had. The tuna flavors blended just perfectly with the cheese, sauce and the other toppings to create a small bit of culinary heaven on a pizza crust.

To all those who doubt tuna supreme I say: Give it a try. You’ll be glad you did.
