Brownie Torte

Welcome back!

Once again I’ve gone entirely too long without posting or making a new video. What can I say but “life’s been ‘fun’.” and get on with posting something new. BTW-I’ve also got a new video in the works as well and it should be done in a few days or so.

This one got my attention simply because it looks SO much like the kind of thing that a diabetic can only hope to look at and pass by and yet it’s actually a lot more diabetic friendly than it looks.

The first thing I had to do was look up the word “Torte” because it’s one of those I’ve seen now and then but never really paid much attention to because I’ve never done much pastry making at all.

It turns out that a torte is a rich, usually layered and filled cake. It’s most often made with little to no flour. Instead, grated nuts or fine bread crumbs are used. It’s usually topped with a rich butter icing, whipped cream or chocolate.

Start by making up a batch of Fudge Sweet Brownies.

Use Whip cream, Fruit Sweet and vanilla as both filling and topping for layers of brownies.

For a Low-Fat Substitute you could use 3 cups of thawed frozen whipped topping. You can also substitute whatever flavoring you prefer for the vanilla, such as a tablespoon of instant coffee or a tablespoon of concentrated orange juice.

1 1/2 cups of chilled whipping cream
3 tablespoons of Fruit Sweet
1 teaspoon of vanilla
