Don’t You Just Love A Good Smoke?

Quitting smoking is something that I’ve tried to do several times over the last few years. Each time I lasted anywhere from four or five days to as little as four or five hours.

Part of the reason I’ve had such trouble is that I’ve been a smoker for over thirty years. Habits that old are very hard to break. Another reason I’ve had such a hard time quitting is that to be totaly honest, I like smoking. Few things in this world can match the simple pleasure of a good smoke with a fresh cup of hot coffee first thing in the morning.

Mind you it’s not necessary to tell me all the reasons why I should quit. I know those reasons. I’ve seen the pictures, read the articles and so on. None of that does anything to change the fact that smoking is something that I have enjoyed since I started so long ago.

Oh I’ll keep trying to quit. I’m always looking for a new idea for a way to get that done. Not long ago I was talking about this issue and my neighbor suggested that I switch from cigarettes to cigars. The idea being that I’d still get my smoke but because cigars are so much stronger than cigarettes I would not smoke as much.

I’ve thought about this idea a lot over the three days since then and I have to admit I’m thinking about it. Enough so that I’ve been looking at some daily cigar deals to see what I can find in the way of a decent yet inexpensive cigar.

I know that many people will think that this is just trading one problem for another but honestly I think it could work.
