Brats Smothered In Onions & Green Peppers
January 22nd, 2009 | Posted in Dinner, Food porn, From The Cook, Lunch, Main dishes, Recipies | Comments OffI was making this up yesterday and when it was done I thought that it looked so good that I just had to get a picture of it.

It’s a simple enough thing to make. Start some butter melting in a non-stick skillet and while it’s melting dice up a medium onion (I prefer the sweet onions myself) and a green bell pepper. Add these to the melted butter and cook slowly over a medium heat until the green peppers are soft and the onions are clear.
Once the onions and peppers are most of the way done (roughly 7 to 10 minutes after starting), Add the Brats or whatever thing you prefer. This works equally well with hot dogs, brats (any type), polish sausage, Kielbasa, Etc. Heck, it’s even pretty good served on top of those Angus beef burgers you can get from Wally World. (though in the case of the angus burgers you’re better off cooking those separate and just using the onions and peppers as a topping)
Cook for another 5 to 7 minutes or so until the brats (or whatever) is done and you’re ready to plate it up and serve it.
If you like, you can keep it going until the onions caramelize. I didn’t because I was kinda impatient last night, normally I would have.
