This is one of those favorites that kids can tell you’re making because they’ll smell the evidence a block away. Then, when you announce that they’re ready, you can easily find yourself in the middle of a stampeed of kids that just can’t wait to get at the goodies. So, make sure you and your neighbors are covered with plenty of life insurance for kids just in case the stampeed gets out of hand and start baking.
A good way to handle the stampeed issue is to do the making while they’re gone somewhere and the brownies are cool before they get back.
Start out by preheating the oven to 350°F and grease a 13×9x2-inch baking pan.
Melt 2 sticks of butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add two cups of sugar and two thirds cup of cocoa. Stir this to thoroughly blend and remove from heat. Stir in four beaten eggs and two teaspoons of vanilla extract.
Then Stir together 3/4 cup of all purpose flour, a half teaspoon of salt and a quarter teaspoon of baking soda. Stir the dry ingredients into the into the chocolate mixture and spread in prepared pan.
Bake for 25 minutes and remove from the oven. Sprinkle two and a half cups of miniature marshmallows and two thirds cup of peanuts over brownie surface and then return it to the oven for another 5 minutes or until the marshmallows are puffed and just beginning to brown a little and remove it from the oven.
Sprinkle a cup of Hershies Kissables candies over the marshmallows and peanuts. Press them down lightly to set them in place. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Using wet knife, cut into bars. it yields about 36 brownies.
