Olive Oil Isn’t Popeye’s Girlfriend

Well. It isn’t. Her name is “Olive Oyl”. Actual Olive Oil on the other hand is another matter entirely. It’s a lot healthier than vegetable and other oils in use. It also adds a slight ‘undercurrent’ to the flavor of anything cooked in it.

You can use it to saute or fry, in salad dressings and in most situations in which you would use vegetable, peanut, corn, canola or whatever other oils.

There’s a lot more about Olive Oil that is helpful and beneficial to health in several ways and is good when dieting. I’ll take some time soon to look up more information about it and do an extended post about it in the next week or so.

    1. I use olive oil for every kind of frying except deep frying. I also keep a few kinds of olive oil on hand – virgin, extra virgin, and light – for various cooking needs. For instance, I love the floral fragrance and flavor of extra virgin olive oil for salads but I prefer to use either light or virgin olive oil for sauteeing or spaghetti sauce because they have a more neutral flavor.
